Chocolate glazed doughnuts with assorted sprinkles

From the US, indulge with this delicious chocolate glazed doughnuts recipe with assorted sprinkles. Kids are going to love them!

1. In a bowl, place eggs with sugar, melted butter and vanilla sugar; whisk to combine. Pour milk and stir, then sift flour, baking powder, a pinch of salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well until smooth. Let rest for 1 hour.

2. Sift a heavy coat of flour onto a clean work surface and pat dough until it is 1 cm thick. Using a 5 or 6 cm doughnut cutter, cut as many doughnuts as you can. Let to rest for another 30 minutes. Heat the fry oil.

3. Working in small batches, carefully place doughnuts in the hot oil, turn over and cook until surface is evenly browned. Transfer doughnuts to paper-towel to drain.

4. Melt the chocolate in bain-marie with 5 cl water and butter. Dip top half of each doughnut into glaze and  decorate with assorted sprinkles. Let glaze set, and serve.
