Gelato Wolrd Tour

So is it ice cream or gelato? If you don’t know the difference yet, here is your chance to experience the traditional treat in its authentic form. Freshly made in front of your eyes, gelato is essentially creamier and contains less sugar than ice cream – so no guilty pleasures this time, just indulge!

Celebrate the Italian art of gelato from 20 to 22 March and watch 16 top gelato chefs from across Asia-Pacific, battle it out for the prestigious World Best Gelato title.

Built on a rich history, gelato is a tremendous part of Italian culture and a symbol of the nation – there’s even a gelato museum in Bologna. Hence with the tour, Italy aims to spread their artisanal gelato know-how across the world.

The Singapore leg of the Gelato World Tour will be brimming with fun activities for both children and adults. Ranging from workshops on gelato history, demos, tastings and how to become a susccessful gelato entrepreneur, you will no doubt learn the ins and outs of the industry.

Considering a career change? Head to the new Caprigiani Campus located at the At-Sunrice culinary school, the only one in Asia and you’ll be on your way to being on par with the experts.

Several competitions will also be held during the two day event. Come and witness how the jury, led by acclaimed pastry chef, Pang Kok Keong, will name the three winner flavours and compete for the world’s best gelato in 2017.

On the other hand, Tonda challenge will see which artisans will be able to scoop the perfect gelato and win the Golden Spatula award. Another highlight to the event would be the ‘Stack it high showdown‘ Gelato Maestros competition where the goal is to create the highest gelato in the world!

So if you’ve got nothing planned this weekend or if you do, then scrap that and clear your calendar for Gelato World Tour. From sampling mouth-watering gelato flavours to learning about the age-old art of making the treats, you can be sure to have a great time at the event.

While the admission to the ground is free, tickets (SGD12) entitle you to taste 8 from the 16 best gelato flavours available and can be purchased at the Info Point.

On a plus point, proceeds will all go directly to charity – so that’s a good deed right there. Now the only thing left to do is get your tastebuds ready for a fully immersive gelato time this weekend!

Never again will you snub this yummy dessert.
