Here is the recipe for a traditional Alsatian dessert: the kugelhopf. If you like traditional cuisine, then you will love this dessert.

1. Dissolve the yeast in a bowl with 5 cl of warm milk. Pour the rest of the milk in a bowl and incorporate the sugar, butter and a pinch of salt. Pour the flour in another bowl and add the eggs one by one, while stirring. Add the mixture of the first bowl to the second. Work the dough until it comes off of the bowl.

2. Add the yeast and knead the dough by stretching and throwing it several times on a floured surface.

3. Place the dough in a floured bowl and cover with a cloth. Leave to rise for 1 hour in a warm place.

4. Preheat the oven at 180°C (th. 6). Break open the dough and fold in raisins. Greased the mould with butter and place the almonds in the grooves. Place the dough and cover with cloth and let rise up to the edge.

5. Bake for 45 minutes. Serve with icing sugar.
