  Ingredients

1. Preheat the oven at th. 5/6 – 165°C. Mix the walnuts with the almonds, sugar and cinnamon.

2. Stack 5 phyllo pastry sheets on a buttered mould, brush each sheet with melted butter. Spread them on top of half of the mixture of nuts, then cover with three sheets also brushed with butter. Add the rest of the mixture. Finish with 4 sheets of buttered pastry and the last one by brushing it with water.

3. Cut the preparation into squares with the aid of a pointed knife. Bake for 40 minutes. Cover with a sheet of aluminum if it browns too fast.

4. Dissolve the sugar, lemon and 1 glass of water in a pot. Bring to a boil. Leave to cook for 10 minute until the mixture thickens. Add the maple syrup and cook for 5 minutes.

5. Remove from oven, sprinkle the baklavas with maple syrup. Leave to cool before eating.
