From cooking classes with Masterchefs to the unveiling of new menus from our favourite haunts, here’s our pick of foodie events to check out this week.

Sofitel So Singapore presents Masterclass by Chef Mathew Macartney

For one night only, Chef Mathew Macartney will be conducting an exclusive Masterclass at Xperience Restaurant. The passionate Executive Chef of Eleonore’s Restaurant at Chateau Yering has won multiple awards including Best Modern Australian Restaurant and National Restaurant of the Year Winner.
Witness the expert himself whip up some of his signature dishes before proceeding to a 4-course bespoke menu, inspired by the best of land and sea.
Price: SGD198 (with wine pairing)

$100 Gourmet

$100 Gourmet was conceptualized by Citibank and follows a concept where visiting international chefs collaborate with host restaurants to cook up a six-course meal for only, yep, you guessed it, SGD100.
The event debuting this April will see visiting chef Laurent Peugeot paired with host chefs Emmanuel Stroobant of Saint Pierre and chef Fukashi Abachi of Fat Cow for 8 days to create Franco-Japanese culinary fusions.
Price: SGD100++ (not inclusive of beverage)

Mezze at Mezza9

Inspired by his travels to Turkey and the Middle East, executive sous chef Martin Satow of Mezza9 will present flavourful, hot and cold mezze, with 10 petite specialties and four main courses to choose from.
Recommended highlights include tabbouleh, (SGDD12++), dolmas, (SGD18++) and kibbeh (SGD18++). Guests will also have the option to order mezze selections to share in platters of three, six or nine, priced at SGD 28.00++, SGD 48.00++ and SGD 68.00++, respectively.

Moosehead

To survive in the F&B industry is to evolve, and that is what Glen and Daniel Ballis, the father-and-son creative partnership behind Moosehead has done with the introduction of a new menu that connects with and celebrates the vibe of the times.
Travel, culinary trends and alternative culture inspired the 10 new offerings on the menu which was crafted by current Resident Chef Drew Wilson from Australia, together with Glen Ballis.
Creations of the day are listed on the Moosehead board and dishes most raved about are then accorded an official place on the menu. New dinner menu items to check out include roast beetroot with pomegranate, almonds and ricotta (SGD12++), seared watermelon with feta and cress (SGD12++), and pork scratchings with yuzu mayo (SGD6++ each).

All Things New at Oxwell & Co

For good old fashioned British food, you don’t have to look further than Oxwell & Co and this April, the modern British establishment will officially introduce home-grown talent Nic Scorpion as the Head Chef as well as unveil a fresh new menu featuring staple classics and fun new twists.
Formerly of Tippling Club, Chef Scorpion will present his updated interpretation of signature British classics in a modern style. Diners will get to taste interesting remixes on the dishes in an elegant historical shophouse setting. Hallmarks to look out for include Ocean Cured Trout with charred cucumbers, avocado cream and dill, Steak Tartare with egg yolk and of course, the iconic British staple, Fish and Chips with red snapper. One thing’s for sure, we know the folks at Oxwell & Co will not disappoint.

What with Savour 2015, World Street Food Congress and the World Gourmet Summit happening back to back, it’s hard to keep track of all the culinary events happening in Singapore. If you missed Savour 2015 and find the World Gourmet Summit too pricey, fret not! There are many other gastronomic events happening in our Little Red Dot worthy of a slot in your foodie calendar.
