How to make a béchamel sauce?
Béchamel sauce is ideal to complement many dishes. Here are some tips to make sure to succeed this basic sauce.
Béchamel sauce is one of the most used to complement French dishes. You find this creamy sauce in many different dishes like lasagna, the croque-monsieur, moussaka or gratin.
Although it is quick to make, it can sometimes be difficult to succeed the first time. Here are three tips to achieve a delicious béchamel.
1. To avoid lumps, make a roux (don’t let the butter cooked by stirring constantly) and allow to cool. Once the roux is cooled down, put the pan back on the heat and pour the liquid, cold or hot, stirring with a whisk.
2. To achieve the best cooking, start by combining well all ingredients, and then cook from medium heat and not high flame..
3. For seasoning, in addition to salt and pepper, you can complement with grated nutmeg or parmesan. It will give extra flavors.
